It is a truth universally acknowledged that a fabulous book is in want of a 200th birthday party.

Today is the 200th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice. Not that i looked that up or anything. So I thought i'd do a little celebration post over here on Cher Ami because i'm an un-ashamed Austen geek.
If you haven't read P+P, please try it out, or watch one of the great adaptions. the 1995 BBC tv adaption will always be a classic with Colin Firth's lake-diving scene, but Joe Wrights 2006 adaption really is beautifully shot, and is my personal favourite.

This is my rather battered edition of P+P.

Above is one of my favourite sections in the book. I won't spoil it for you, but it's a conversation between Lady Catherine and the main character Lizzie Bennet. Lady Catherine is played majestically in the Joe Wright adaption, and this conversation is one of the best parts of that adaption.

So, happy birthday Pride and Prejudice! Have any of you read Pride and Prejudice? If you have, who is your favourite character or scene?

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend,

The ones who stay and the ones who leave.

As I promised, I took some snowy outfit of the day photographs, the snow will never tire as a backdrop to me. Although, with certainty, my back garden will. Very exciting, I know.

I love this shirt, second-hand, for £1, definitely my favourite buy of 2013 so far. And these jeans are always appearing, I'm actually hoping to replace them with some Topshop Leigh's soon. The bag was my grandma's, she was constantly picking up things, mostly never brand new (it runs in the family) and I love it, though unfortunately it needs a bit of patching up now it's so old. And of course I couldn't go without my ever present chelsea boots.

Shirt: Charity Shop / Jeans: Jack Wills / Boots: Shires / Bag: Vintage / Ridiculous facial expressions: Model's own

This last picture is sort of a random, I just wanted to document the scribbles appearing in my books. We're studying An Inspector Calls at the moment, and although I've already read it before, I'm really enjoying it. I don't read plays at all (apart from in class) but I thought if i like seeing plays, i'd enjoy reading them too. Do you guys have any play recommendations?

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,
