Took a trip - BFWSS13

Fashion weeks occur twice a year around the globe in the four major fashion capitals of the world (such an overused cliche/phrase, won't hurt to use it again); London, Paris, New York and Milan. They are followed by fashion observers all over the world with a hawk-like eye, high street stores looking to bring the trends into their own shops for much cheaper prices, fashion editors looking for the next hot thing (cough *Cara Delevigne* cough), and all round amazing bloggers like Susie Bubble and the like.

These weeks are wonderful and essential to the fashion industry, but very inaccessible for small fashion bloggers like me who have just started out with little under twenty followers. So what more wonderful than smaller fashion shows featuring high street brands, who often give away free passes (I repeat, FREE) for bloggers and fashion students. The Mall at Cribb's Causeway in Bristol is just one company that offers these weeks, and I attended one this year, which after complications was not the blogger's show I was originally invited to, but a public one, was amazing, featuring clothes from John Lewis, River Island and Next. Admittedly, not high end fashion houses, but a lot more purse friendly for students like me.

I went to the show with my fellow friend and blogger Katy (from Palette), and we had such a lovely time, using the chance for a good ol' beauty trip afterwards, which we thought was well deserved. Unfortunately, because I went on the Sunday, no photo's were taken, but Ben Allen's flickr photostream has plenty of beautiful photographs taken from the friday's show, all the main outfits and my favourites are there! Of course there was a small bag of gifts, or more bluntly, goodie bags, and they were surprisingly lovely so i photographed their contents for you all. (There were food items, but these were unfortunately eaten, apologies from my stomach!)

Rather generous, don't you think? I was especially excited to see the Tea Pigs in there, the tea lover that I am.

A Lush Times is always appreciated, especially with the incredible Vivienne Westwood as a cover star! // My show programme and event guide

A little OOTD : River Island Blouse and Vintage Necklace

After receiving a Boots voucher from a family friend for my birthday, I couldn't resist picking up these beauties which I have wanted for such a long time! Essie's Mint Candy Apple and Barry M's Peach Melba are sure to be my new favourite spring shades, though I have yet to try them on my nails yet!

Have you ever been to a fashion show like Bristol's? Or have you been lucky enough to be a visitor to LFW? I hope you all had a lovely Monday, as lovely as Mondays can be anyhow!

February Favourites

I can't believe it's the the beginning of March already, it just seems like a couple of weeks ago that it was Christmas! This month has been full of nice things, trips away, baking, and going out with friends, but also a lot of work as well! Here are my (mainly beauty) favourites for the month of February for all you lovely people.

This has won countless awards and is the favourite of many a blogger, including me. It smells DELICOUS and does such a good job that I would never consider anything else. I haven't met anyone that doesn't like the new maple fragrance either.

I am not a huge fan of mineral make-up, but this blush that I received in my February Glossybox is lovely. It contains very few ingredients, which is great for my sensitive skin, and the colour is beautiful, a coral-peach that will be perfect come summer. I don't wear blush a lot, but I did reach for this quite a few times this month. The top swatch on my hand in this photo is it lightly dusted on with my finger.

This has no faults in my eyes. A stain and balm combined in a 'your lips but better' shade, basically perfection in a tube, I have been wearing this every day without fail.

Like, the Soap and Glory scrub, this is another product that I love for it's smell. This smells exactly like whipped cream and you apply it through a squirty cream nozzle - amazing for your inner child! This is great for my ombred hair, and always leaves my hair smooth and soft, I can't wait to try more of milk_shake's products!

Yet another product that smells absolutely divine. I also got this in my February glossybox, and it left my skin so soft and hydrated, AND smelling lovely. I couldn't ask more from a day moisturiser, and will definitely be purchasing this in full size when my other moisturisers run out.

Thanks to my friend Isis, I now have a slight (or more likely, major) obsession with the Marvel Avenger films, and I haven't even watched all of them yet. After watching Thor and then Iron Man one after the other I watched this, which is probably my favourite so far (though I really liked Chris Hemsworth in Thor too.) I don't know why, but I'm loving these films.

I love this lifestyle magazine so much it hurts. Okay that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I do love this magazine, with it's gorgeous photography and beautiful articles on everything under the sun. There book recommendations are always great as well.

I hope you enjoyed this favourites post, would you like this to become a regular feature? What have been your favourites in February? I hope you're all having a lovely Saturday, I'm going off to see Les Mis for the second time because I totally have a life.

Love

I shouldn't say it, but I'm starting to think I care.

I took a trip back up north to York over the weekend, it was so lovely to see all my childhood friends, and of course we had to go shopping! My main priority was to pick up a new pair of jeans from Topshop, after hearing so many lovely things about them and I thought it was definitely time to treat myself to a pair.

These jeans are so lovely and comfortable, and the perfect fit for me! I tried a lot of different pairs and these were by far my favourite. A good price too. (Just noting here that the link I've given doesn't go to the exact jeans that I have, as mine weren't on the Topshop website, however these were the closest match I could find!)

Shirt / Urban Outfitters

I picked up this BDG shirt in the new (well new to me) Urban Outfitters in York for £10. As usual, it was from the clearance, as all my purchases from UO are!

Black Maxi Skirt / Topshop

This was deffo my buy of the day! Only £5 for something I've wanted for ages, I couldn't believe it, and neither could the sales assistant! (Again, because it's a sale item I couldn't find the exact product online, so the link is a suggested alternative from Topshop, unfortunately at full price!)

A lot of people I know love this, and I decided it was time to try it fro myself. With a felt-pen style tip, it's easy to use and has a great colour density to boot! Love it, as I love all the other S+G products I've tried.

I hope you enjoyed this post, as soon as I have some free time I'll snap a couple of outfit posts to show you what these things look like on.

I have exciting news to announce as well, I will be blogging at the Bristol Fashion Week 'Live Blogging Show' for SS13, along with 99 other bloggers from around the south west and beyond. I am so excited to take part, I'll have more news to share soon hoepfully.

Also, I was flicking through my favourite blogs before writing this post and read this article from the blog 'Gin and Ginger'. It was such a great article that I had to share it with you guys, please check it out!

Hope you all had lovely weekends,
love

October Glossybox

If any of you have receive a Glossybox every month like I do, you'll surely know the feelings of anticipation and excitement that come hand in hand with having a subscription.
For those of you who don't know, Glossybox is a box you receive each month filled with four or five high end beauty products, which could fall into the area's of make-up, hair, skincare, and body care.

I started subscribing to Glossybox in July and there's no looking back now, i love unpacking it each month!
I thought i'd share the products i received in this months glossybox, let me know if you'd like this to become a regular feature...

The first item I received was the Anatomicals pink grapefruit body scrum. Although this smells divine, it's not a great exfoliator, which to be fair is only expected for an inexpensive scrub.

The second item I received was the Derma Clean Start 3 Step Day and Night Kit, which included a Cleanser, Toner and Moisturiser. These are all well known products, which i have never tried, so i was excited to use them. However in my opinion the didn't produce miracles and didn't really affect my skin.

The next product i received in my box was the Skinetica Anti-Blemish Solution, which i actually haven't used yet, however it sounds promising and i will update you if it's a miracle product.

The final prouct I received in this month's glossybox was the Yves Rocher moisturising cream lipstick in rouge, which, hence the name, is a gorgeous bright red shade. This is my favourite product of the box by far, it has a lovely formula and the best staying power of all my over lipsticks put together. However, I will have to buy some other shades, as i am definitely not brave enough to wear this red shade every day!

So, what do you think of the idea of glossybox? If you do receive a glossybox what did you think of your months box? Comments are always appreciated!
